Kurt Vonnegut on Writing with Style

10 Feb

From “How to Write with Style” by Kurt Vonnegut:

1. Find a subject you care about

2. Do not ramble, though

3. Keep it simple

4. Have guts to cut

5. Sound like yourself

6. Say what you mean

7. Pity the readers

Seven resources to keep on your radar:

1) Search writers on writing (or similar searches that serve your needs)
2) Check out your university writing center (both online and offline)
3) Read great writers
4) Writing on Alltop
5) Read the full essay on “Writing with Style” by Vonnegut
6) Watch movies, listen to lyrics, and read poetry.
7) Move. Do something. Have a conversation. Go outside.
